Liberal backlash against Sen. Sinema as Arizona challenger emerges, to unseat the WEASEL

Updated: Oct 24, 2021

Left-wing criticism is rife not only at home but also in the hallways of the US Capitol, where Sen. Sinema has defied Democratic pleas to abolish the Senate's filibuster in order to enact voting rights legislation and voted against a minimum wage raise earlier this year with other moderates.

Sen. Sinema isn't the only Democrat who has enraged progressives.

Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia has been chastised by liberals in Congress and activists around the country for refusing to support numerous Democratic initiatives, including generous paid family and medical leave policies and strong greenhouse gas reduction targets.

Sen. Sinema, on the other hand, takes a quite different approach to the matter.

She has been operating in relative anonymity for months, secretly discussing her concerns with the White House.

She has given only Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer access to information, whereas Manchin has spoken with senators directly and even spent Tuesday at a caucus lunch fielding a torrent of questions and hearing concerns from his Democratic colleagues.

Sen. Sinema skipped lunch in favor of a meeting with White House officials.

"In certain ways, we don't live in a democracy; we live under Kyrsten Sinema's tyranny," said Rep. Ritchie Torres, a progressive New York freshman.

"I appreciate the party's ideological diversity.

I'm okay with dissent.

My coworkers and I have a hard time dealing with what we consider to be erratic behavior.

A lack of communication and clarity about where she stands has led to the perception of erraticism."

A spokesman for Sen. Sinema declined to comment. But aides have noted that she has been clear about her positions with Schumer and Biden since August.

Her constituents and other Democrats are clamoring for her to be removed from office because she continues to hinder the party's objectives.

Many of Sen. Sinema's supporters in Arizona may decide to hold their nose and vote for a Republican candidate, or just not vote at all.

Sending a message to her and other Democrats that they will go to any length to remove a perceived traitoress WEASEL
